Peaceful Bible?

So often, those attacking Quran and Hadith without proper knowledge would say the otherwise about Bible. Well, they can't be more wrong.

* G-d instructs to burn and kill the Entire Town if One Person Worships Another God (Deuteronomy 13:13-19 NLT)

* G-d chose Solomon whose 700 wives 300 concubines to be a king of Israel

* G-d says okay with striking female or male slave with a rod as long as the slave survives a day or two (Exodus 21:20-21)

* G-d s orders to kill those who do these (including):

- Murder (Exodus 21:12-14; Leviticus 24:17,21)

- Attacking or cursing a parent (Exodus21:15,17)

- Disobedience to parents (Deuteronomy 21:18-21) - Kidnapping (Exodus 21:16)

- Failure to confine a dangerous animal, resulting in death (Exodus 21:28-29) - Witchcraft and sorcery (Exodus 22:18, Leviticus 20:27, Deuteronomy 13:5, 1 Samuel 28:9)

- Human sacrifice (Leviticus 20:2-5) - Sex with an animal (Exodus 22:19, Leviticus 20:16)

- Sex between a woman pledged to be married and a man other than her betrothed (Deuteronomy 22:23-24)

And if you say Jesus abolished and invalidated OLD TESTAMENT. Well, you are wrong:

For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:18-19 RSV)

It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid." (Luke 16:17 NAB)

Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place." (Matthew 5:17 NAB)

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. 3 So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach" Matthew 23:1-2

You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery. But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. So if your eye--even your good eye--causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. Matthew 5:28

If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell. Matthew 5:30

Didn't Moses command you to respect your father and mother? Didn't he tell you to put to death all who curse their parents? But you let people get by without helping their parents when they should. You let them say that what they own has been offered to God.You won't let those people help their parents. And you ignore God's commands in order to follow your own teaching. You do a lot of other things just as bad

So, despite the popular belief that Jesus invalidated all the harsh, mind-boggling practice in Old Testament - the truth is Jesus mission was to reaffirm it.

BTW NT also contains verses like these:

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a SWORD. (Matthew 10:34)

I have come to set fire to the earth, and I only wish it were already burning (Luke 12:49)

Do you think I came to bring PEACE on earth? NO, I tell you, but division. From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. (Luke 12:51)

Now, as for those enemies of mine who did not want me to be their KING, bring them here and KILL them in my presence! (Luke 19:27) (PS: In the parable of Ten Minas : Jesus is the King, and those who should be killed are the Jews)

"So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds. (Revelation 2:22-23)

"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away an withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. (John 15:5-6)

"That servant who knows his master's will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows. But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. (Luke 12:47-48)"

“If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.

In the same way, therefore, every one of you who does not say good-bye to all his possessions cannot be My disciple.

If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell

And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell

For I came to set at variance 'A man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law,

He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to the dogs."

And he [Jesus] said unto them ... Ye reject the commandment of God ... For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death."

Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God."

And throw that worthless slave into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'

I do not allow them to teach or to have authority over men; they must keep quiet.

For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off

The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers.

The servant who knows the master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows

All who are forced to serve as slaves should consider their masters worthy of full respect. Then people will not speak evil things against God’s name and against what we teach.

Some slaves have masters who are believers. They shouldn’t show their masters disrespect just because they are also believers. Instead, they should serve them even better.

Women should learn in silence and all humility. do not allow them to teach or to have authority over men; they must keep quiet

Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says.

Still it's not permissible for Muslim for mocking other religion

# Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance. (16:125)

# Virtue and evil are not equal. If you replace evil habits by virtuous ones, you will certainly find that your enemies will become your intimate friends. (41:34)

# And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah , lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them about what they used to do.(6:108)

# Do not argue with the people of the scripture (Jews, Christians, and Muslims) except in the nicest possible manner - unless they transgress - and say, "We believe in what was revealed to us and in what was revealed to you, and our god and your god is one and the same; to Him we are submitters." Islam doesn't believe in freedom DEBUNKED

Whether Meccan or Medina verses, Islam let people to choose to believe or disbelieve.

MECCAN VERSES :

# To You Your Religion and To Me Mine

# Proclaim: "This is the truth from your Lord," then whoever wills let him believe, and whoever wills let him disbelieve

# NOW [as for thee, O Muhammad,] We have not sent thee otherwise than to mankind at large, to be a herald of glad tidings and a warner; but most people do not understand

# Whoever chooses to follow the right path, follows it but for his own good; and whoever goes astray, goes but astray to his own hurt; and no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another" burden.

# And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds, Say, "It is only revealed to me that your god is but one God; so will you be Muslims [in submission to Him]?" But if they turn away, then say, "I have announced to [all of] you equally. And I know not whether near or far is that which you are promised

MEDINA VERSES

# Those WHO BELIEVE THEN DISBELIEVE, AGAIN BELIEVE AND AGAIN DISBELIEVE, then increase in disbelief, Allah will never forgive them nor guide them in the (right) way.

# But if they turn away, [O Muhammad], say, "Sufficient for me is Allah ; there is no deity except Him. On Him I have relied, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne.

# The Messenger’s duty is but to proclaim the Message.

# Thus, [O Prophet,] if they argue with thee, say, "I have surrendered my whole being unto God, and [so have] all who follow me!" - and ask those who have been vouchsafed revelation aforetime, as well as all unlettered people, "Have you [too] surrendered yourselves unto Him?" And if they surrender themselves unto Him, they are on the right path; but if they turn away - behold, thy duty is no more than to deliver the message: for God sees all that is in [the hearts of] His creatures.

# There is no compulsion in religion. The right direction is henceforth distinct from error. And he who rejecteth false deities and believeth in God hath grasped a firm handhold which will never break.”

And Oh. This is from the At Taubah (Surah Chapter 9) aka "the most favorite Chapter to misquote". Just to show you what the chapter is all about.

First and foremost, It's the story of self defense. To fight the disbeliever. BUUUT not only your ordinary next-door disbeliever. But the ones who pretended to be Muslim AND (with capital A N D ) wanted to kill the Prophet (around 500 A.D of course!)

# O Prophet, fight against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be harsh upon them. And their refuge is Hell, and wretched is the destination. 9:73

#They swear by Allah that they said nothing (bad), but really they said the word of disbelief, and they disbelieved after accepting Islam, and they resolved that (plot to murder Prophet Muhammad SAW) which they were unable to carry out, and they could not find any cause to do so except that Allah and His Messenger had enriched them of His Bounty 9:74...

Even so, the Quran says these nasty fellas should be repent.

# If then they repent, it will be better for them, but if they turn away, Allah will punish them with a painful torment in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. And there is none for them on earth as a Wali (supporter, protector) or a helper. 9:74

The same story (At Taubah) also contains the naturally meek side of Prophet Muhammad, which is very forgiving even to nasty fellows.

# Whether you (O Muhammad SAW) ask forgiveness for them (hypocrites) or ask not forgiveness for them … (and even) if you ask seventy times for their forgiveness … Allah will not forgive them, because they have disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW). And Allah guides not those people who are Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah) 9:80.

The story of At Taubah ends with the description of the feeling of Muhammad who was always grieving and anxious about other people

# Verily, there has come unto you a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) from amongst yourselves (i.e. whom you know well). It grieves him that you should receive any injury or difficulty. He (Muhammad SAW) is anxious over you (to be rightly guided, to repent to Allah, and beg Him to pardon and forgive your sins, in order that you may enter Paradise and be saved from the punishment of the Hell-fire), for the believers (he SAW is) full of pity, kind, and merciful 9:128.

And this is the what God ordered to Prophet Muhammad to those who turn away (last verse of At Taubah)

# But if they turn away, [O Muhammad], say, "Sufficient for me is Allah ; there is no deity except Him. On Him I have relied, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne 9:129."

~end of story~

See, Even the story of At Taubah, is not even close to the oh-so-gruesome story of, let's say, 1 Samuel 15:3 "Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.'"

And Do you notice. The LAST VERSE of At Taubah aka "the most favourite Chapter to misquote" Quran speaks so gently, exactly coherent with lot of other verses, such as:

# NOW [as for thee, O Muhammad,] We have not sent thee otherwise than to mankind at large, to be a herald of glad tidings and a warner; but most people do not understand
# There shall be no compulsion in religion: the right way is now distinct from the wrong way.  (Quran)
# If they charge thee with falsehood, say: "My work to me, and yours to you! ye are free from responsibility for what I do, and I for what ye do!"

# To You Your Religion and To Me Mine
